Peter English
Partner, PwC Global Family Business Leader, 55 years old, based in Essen, Germany. Peter Englisch graduated from University of Münster, Germany, with a Master degree in Economics in 1991. He joined EY in October 1992 and was appointed as Partner on 1 January 2001. From 2002 until 2010 he was the Managing Partner for the Ruhr Region of EY, comprising of 3 Offices and 400 Employees at that time. In 2011 he was appointed as Global Leader for Family Business and set up EY´s Global Family Business Center of Excellence. On January 2018 he joined PwC as Global Family Business and EMEA Entrepreneurial & Private Business Leader. Peter is Certified Public Accountant and Tax Advisor in Germany as well as US- CPA. Peter is specialized in advising Family Businesses of various generations and sizes in all areas of business and family issues as well as wealth management. He is serving several multinational clients and is coordinating several international projects for his clients. He is for many years author of various publications regarding Family Business, Family Office and the broader range of growth companies in Cooperation with the Center of Family Business of the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and other Academic Partners. He is co-founding partner of the Center for Family Business at the University of St. Gallen and has served as advisory board member until June 30th 2017. Alongside his extensive experience as a client serving Partner in the area of assurance and advisory business services for both, international and national companies, Peter supports family-owned businesses and family offices in a broad range of issues, including succession, governance and growth strategies. Peter also supports also High Net Worth Individuals and Family Offices in topics of succession, long-term investment strategies and asset alocation. He also invented the Global NextGen Academy, a global program for young successors in family business. As of October 2018 Peter joined the Advisory Board of the global Family Firm Institute (FFI).
Catharina Prym
Catharina Prym is an international expert specialized in Owner Strategy Consulting for business families. She consults renowned, multigenerational family businesses in Europe and Africa with her international PwC-team. The systemic consultant and mediator develops owner strategies, family chartas, succession plans and conflict resolutions where business economics and family dynamics create unique challenges. Catharina is a twentieth generation member of the Prym Family, one of the oldest entrepreneurial families in the world. For today’s Prym Group, founded in 1530, she will be the fifteenth generation to run the company that has its head office in Germany near Cologne. Production facilities are located around the globe, being a leading global supplier of creative sewing products, needlework and fashion accessories, retrievable press fastening systems and accessories to the textile industries as well as a leading provider for material and surface technology, micro fine pressing technology and mechatronics. Catharina has been closely involved in the family business from a young age and was the first in her generation to be on the shareholders board, joining during an existential crisis in 2014. Due to her contributions he has been honored with the Top Family Business “Rising Star Award” at the European Families in Business Awards 2015. Catharina studied Business Economics at the private University Witten/Herdecke and worked with the pioneering boutique in family business consulting in Europe, INTES. In 2016 Catharina joined PwC Africa to establish its Family Business Services based in South Africa. Here she conceptualized and founded the first annual Family Business Conference in Africa. In 2019 she relocated to Germany where she now establishes the PwC Family Governance Consulting services for the DACH-region. She is co-founder of the FBN Family Business Network NextGen Chapter Germany and is on the board of StartUpTeens, a German NGO fostering entrepreneurship in schools.
